Poker Robot Myths Debunked It used to be that people thought using a poker bot in an online poker game is a form of cheating. But in this day and age using this type of software is so rampantly done that many players already assume they are playing against bots much of the time. Old-time players are keen to shoo away such bots, and paranoid weak players are scared of them for some crazy reason. Consequently online gaming companies maintain an official policy of banning automated playing software. Up until recently they used to attempt to enforce it. But the times, they are-a-changing. It is impractical for the poker rooms to keep enforcing this policy because the automated playing software has become sophisticated and is not easily detected any more. They can still search for it if they really want to, and maybe they have - and didn't like what they have found. There are now so many bots in the low stakes games that if they cut them all off they would be slashing their revenue by more than any reasonable business can afford to. We are certain that the accountants have said, "Let them play." How do poker bots work? Poker robots are programmed to win based on the mathematical probabilities involved in playing poker, much in the same way a good human player calculates odds. There really isn't much difference as far as you can tell. When an opponent bets or raises, the software computes the possibilities at lightning speed and executes the best action. But for all you know that was a person who took three seconds to think and act. Is using a bot really a form of cheating? Some industry analysts say that the moment the game of poker is transported to cyberspace, it has already become shady. This is because when it comes to the internet, no one can really know for sure what’s going on because the results of the game are just flashed on computer screens. However, third-party auditors have confirmed that the games are indeed fair. That means a poker bot has no advantage over a human player. It sees all the same information you do, nothing more. This hardly sounds like cheating. I mean, who cares whether it is a human or a software program that clicks on the raise button? Can they really help you win big? These programs are automatic. You can actually go out, do some errands and come back to your computer with the bot still playing against opponents and see your stack doubled or tripled. But they have the same ups and downs that any poker player has. They are not immune to a donkey hitting a 3-outer on the river. The difference is, they don't throw the mouse against the wall when it happens. So what it really boils down to is how good the playing profile of the bot is for the game type that you have it in, and how bad your opponents in that game are. Poker bots as an aid. Some people, especially new players who are still learning the game, use this kind of software as a poker aid. In fact the Shanky Technologies bot can be set to not auto-play and just tell you what it would do. Many students of the game find this to be a tremendous learning tool. Other players will use the bot to simply hold their place in a good game while they take a break to walk the dog or go pick up Chinese food. Or to play the boring first half of a tournament (it is a 5-6 hour time commitment to win one of these). If you have one you will find many occasions to use it, and just might find yourself giving it more and more tasks. No intuition. No player reads. Even the most stoic poker players are still provoked by their emotions, which can affect their game play. As already mentioned, this is the main advantage that software has over the human brain. No mechanical mistakes, no eyesight issues, and no emotional breakdowns. The flip side of this is that poker bots do not have intuition - or the gut feeling which many gamblers rely upon. They also cannot get a read on an opponent based on the way he is currently playing at the table. But honestly, if you are a human playing three or more tables at the same time you will miss all of that stuff as well. Poker bots may not have intuition or the ability to make reads, but they have consistency in making good decisions. Truth be told, this will trump intuition over time. This is the main reason some good players don't want them around. Too many other winners to slice up the fish pie with.

Do not go out and buy a poker bot and expect it to start winning for you based on this website. Poker is gambling and you might lose money playing, with or without software helping you. Use you head for something other than a hat-rack and do your own research before buying any software product. I don't necessarily recommend any of them.
